A
wonderful way for you and your children to meet new friends.
Held in a large and airy room adjacent to Kidspace , this
casual, unstructured hour combines all the best ingredients of
a successful playgroup with the added attraction of meeting
new friends for you and your child.
Starts September 15.
MOTHER GOOSE LAPTIME 1-14
months

Caregivers with babies up to 14 months old are invited to drop
in, talk together, and teach their babies new songs, stories
and rhymes to help develop their early literacy skills.
Starts September 4.
TINY TOTS
15–24
months
1st
Thursday of month
10:15–11:00 AM
Each monthly program for lively toddlers, aged 15 to 24
months, and their parents/caregivers will include a short
playtime followed by books, group songs, finger plays and
movement activities. Have fun together while continuing to
develop your toddler’s early literacy skills.

Nutcracker Ballet
Preview Ages 3-7
Tuesday, November 25
7-8:00 PM
Join us as The Connecticut Concert Ballet Company presents
it’s popular overview of the holiday classic,
The Nutcracker.
Children can meet Clara and the Nutcracker dancers, hear the
story and even try out a few ballet positions. Free tickets
available beginning November 10.
Make-A-Gift
Grades K-6
Tuesday, December 9
2:30-5 PM
It’s an early dismissal school day so you’ll have time to
come and Make-A-Gift for someone special for the holidays
this month. Kids can arrive between 2:30 PM and 5PM to make
the gift, but make sure you register starting on November 24
so we’ll have enough supplies for you.
CLUB W.D.Y.T. Grades
4-6
Wednesday
4-5:00 PM
Join kids across the state reading and talking about the 10
great books nominated for 2009 Nutmeg Book Award. Express your
valued opinion while you have a snack and enjoy a terrific
activity.

Ongoing Programs
Birthday Books
If you are
celebrating your 1st-13th
birthday we want to help mark your special day. Come to
Windsor Public Library at 323 Broad Street and we will present
you with a birthday book. You must show proof of your birth
date and come to the library on that day. Be sure to come the
day before if we are closed on your birthday.
Kids’ Displays
Do you collect
bears, hot wheels, snow globes or bottle caps? Calling all
kids who love to collect things! Show off your collection in
the new Windsor Public Library Kidspace. We have two great
display cases to provide a showcase for your unique
collection. Call us at 285-1914 or stop in and sign up to book
your display space for one month.

Parenting Materials
The Children's Department offers parents
a wide selection of materials dealing with the educational and
informational aspects of parenting. Come to the Children's
Department the next time you visit Windsor Public Library, and
browse through our Parenting Section. We also offer
Parent/Child Information Packs, dealing with such specific
topics as death, divorce, moving, and even toilet learning.
And for grandparents, we offer Grandparent Packs, consisting
of pre-selected materials including books, cassette tapes,
videos and toys, directed towards specific age groups, i.e.
children 0-12 months, or 3-5 years. The loan period for
Grandparent Packs is one week.

Teacher's Corner
Collections
Teachers may phone Kidspace (285-1914)
and have a collection put together for them by our children's
team. We'll have it checked out on their card and ready to go.
Storytime Visits
Come with us to visit various nursery
schools and daycare centers in the Windsor area to tell
stories to children and talk about the library.

The Children's Collection
Books
We have fiction and nonfiction covering
every imaginable subject from Mother Goose to Medieval
castles. We have Board Books for babies and a large collection
of parenting books, which complete the collection.
Books to Go
"Books to Go" is designed for busy
parents who don't have time to stay and browse in our library.
Any member of our Kidspace team will personally select up to
10 books for your child. Call us at 285-1914 for more
information.
Magazines
We have subscriptions to 21 different
magazines, from Ranger Rick to Sports Illustrated for Kids.
Videos
We have a collection of over 1,400
children's videos and DVD's from the classics to the newest releases.
Audio Books and Music
CD's
We have a collection of over 400 books
on tape and CD. Kidspace has
many music CD's to lend as well.
Electronic Media
Kidspace has 5 game computers, 12
computers dedicated to the Internet, and Word
Processing/Power Point. Over 75 CD ROM's circulate for home use. You may also call Kidspace at 285-1914 for more information.
