Windsor Library can help you save money, energy and go green!
Identify those power hungry appliances in your home and save money with the help of the Library's Kill-A-WattTM meters.
The easy to use devices will enable patrons to monitor their electrical usage and learn their "real time" energy consumption. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that about 10 percent of household electricity used is consumed by idle devices. Idle devices are still using electricity even when they are powered "off".
By connecting your household appliances to the Kill-A-WattTM, you can assess how energy efficient they are and better understand your energy consumption at home. The device calculates consumption by the Kilowatt (kW) hour, the same standard used by your electric company when they process your utility bill.
Kill-A-WattTM meters are now available for 3 week loans to help calculate the cost of running your home appliances. They serve as valuable tools for residents looking to lower their utility bills and cut down on phantom electrical use around the house. You may even learn that some old appliance is so inefficient that it is costing you more in electricity than it's worth. Visit the Windsor Public Library to borrow a Kill-A-WattTM now and start cutting your energy use today. 860-285-1918.
