Volunteer With Us

Volunteer with us!

Is one of your goals to be more active in your community or to give back locally?  The Windsor Public Library is now recruiting volunteers. Whether you have a few hours a week, a couple of hours a month, or even seasonal time to give, we’ve got something for you.

Are you crafty or do you know how to sew? Are you good with numbers and sorting?  Do you have a green thumb and like being outdoors? Do you love capturing those special moments with a camcorder? Are you technically savvy? How about light cleaning, bending and stretching all while supporting your public library?  We also need people willing to pick up and deliver library materials to your fellow neighbors who might be homebound.

We are in need of volunteers of all ages. Positions available in Kidspace, Teens, Adult Department, and the Wilson Branch! You should be self-motivated, dependable and above all, love your library! To find out more about possible positions or to fill out an application stop by the Main Library or Wilson Branch Library. You can also take a look at what we have to offer here and even print out an application. Please note that at this time the library does not accept court mandated community service assignments.

Youth Vounteer Application (for volunteers under 17 years old)

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Children under 12 may volunteer under the supervision of an adult family member.

The Windsor Public Library welcomes the opportunity to work with community volunteers and students in a variety of ways at our two locations. Volunteers help the library provide an enhanced level of service to citizens and visitors, while in turn providing much appreciated assistance to the library staff.

Attention teens!

We have several great one-time opportunities to volunteer at the library this Spring:

Wilson Branch Kids Room Clean Up Day  - Saturday, April 27th from 10:30-1:30.

The Branch will be hosting a spring clean up day and they need your help. Picture books will be wiped down, toys cleaned, and surface areas will get sanitized.  If you need to get some volunteer hours in or you just want to pitch in, come help us out for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Feel free to bring a friend to work along side you, and please remember this is an opportunity for kids between the ages of 12 and 18.  Register ahead by calling 860-247-8960 or stopping by the Wilson Branch Library.

Grounds Beautification (weather permitting) – Saturday, May 4th from 10:30-12:30 and Thursday, June 13th 3:30-5:30.  The main library is a beautiful fixture in the TownCenter and we want to keep it that way. Come down to the library either or both of these days to help weed and clean up the library’s grounds. Pre-registration is required.  Please call 860-285-1918 to sign-up.  Participation is limited.

Kidspace Clean Up Day  - Saturday, June 8th from 10:30-1:30.  The main library children’s room will be hosting a spring clean up day and they need your help. Our well loved picture books need to be cleaned. If you need to get some volunteer hours in or you just want to pitch in, come help us out for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Feel free to register with a friend to work along side of you. Space is limited and registration is required. Please call 860-285-1914 or stop by Kidspace.

* Don’t forget to bring your form to these events if you need a supervisor to sign off on your volunteer hours.
