Make It on the Mezzanine

The purpose of the Windsor Public Library’s Makerspace is to provide an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, inspiration, teaching, and learning.

If there are no reservations, the Mezzanine is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You are welcome to use any of  the machines on the mezzanine, or the area itself, if it is not reserved by someone else.

You will be asked to sign a waiver to use the space because of the risk involved with some of the equipment and supplies.

Cricut Machine

A Cricut is an electronic cutting machine. It cuts, scores, and draws on a variety of materials.

Sewing Machine

What is it and what does it do?

The Singer 4423 Heavy Duty Sewing Machine is perfect for any number of sewing projects.

Embroidery Machine

What is it and what does it do?

The Brother PE770 is an embroidery-only machine.

Specifications:

Button Maker

What is it and what does it do?

This semi-automatic, tabletop machine makes 2 1/4″ buttons or magnets.

  • Makes 2 1/4” size button
  • Produces up to 300 buttons per hour
  • Includes access to the 2 1/4″ Automatic Cut-A-Circle, a fully-automatic machine that makes high-quality 2 1/4″ cuts. Features adjustable blade depth for different paper thickness.

Die-Cut Machine

What is it and what does it do? 

AccuCut MARK IV Roller Die-Cutting Machine cuts materials on a bed or rollers.

Specifications: 

  • 12″ cutting width for AccuCut dies up to Super Jumbo
  • Cut as many as eight layers at once depending upon the material
  • Cut multiple dies from either direction
  • Dies cut foam side up so you see what you are cutting and have less waste

What is it and what does it do?

Book Binding Machine

What is it and what does it do?

A book binding machine helps you punch and bind up reports, files, and essays efficiently.

3D Printer

What is it and what does it do? 

The Makerbot 5th Generation 3D Printer prints objects in plastic.

Specifications: 

  • Build plate is 9.9 x 7.8 x 5.9 inches
  • Uses polylactic acid (PLA) filament, a nontoxic resin made of sugar derived from field corn
  • PLA colors include: Black, white, gray, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, neon pink, beige, translucent green, translucent red, translucent blue, dark sparkly blue, photochromatic blue, photochromatic pink, and glow in the dark
  • Acceptable file types include: .thing, .makerbot, .stl, .skp3D

Laminator

What is it and what does it do? 

The Scotch Advanced Thermal Laminator covers and protects your most important documents.

Specifications:

Film/Slide to Digital Converter

What is it and what does it do? 

The Magnasonic All-In-One High Resolution 22MP Film Scanner takes photos on film and slides and converts them to digital photos.

Specifications: 

  • Accepts 126KPK, 135,110, Super 8 and 35mm negatives
  • Converts images to 22 megapixel digital photo JPEG files
