If you are working on your laptop and using the Wilson Branch’s wifi, you can print to the printer behind the circulation desk. To gain access to the printer, you will need to install it on your computer. If you need help beyond these instructions, please ask at the circulation desk. Patrons cannot print with cellphones or tablets at this time.
Step 1: Connect to WiFi
Choose either WILSON_LIBRARY or WILSON_LIBRARY_5GHZ in your wireless settings. Open up a webpage to make sure the connection is working correctly.
Step 2: Add a printer
On OSX: Go to ‘System Preference’ under the ‘Apple’ menu and then choose ‘Print and Scan’ in the ‘Hardware’ section. At the bottom corner of the left box, click the ‘+.’ This will bring up a new box. On the top row, click ‘IP’ and enter the following IP address into the address line : ‘10.1.10.95’ (without the quotes). You can type in a name if you wish. Click Add. The computer will search for a moment and eventually find our printer, HP2055dn.
On Windows 10: Open ‘Settings’ (it’s the gear logo on the bottom left side of the start menu) and then click ‘Devices.’ At the top of the next page click the button that says ‘add a printer or scanner.’ The computer will search for a moment and it will not be able to find the printer. When it is done searching a link will appear that says ‘the printer I am looking for is not listed.’ Click it. In the dialog box that opens, choose the third option ‘add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname.’ Click next. In the ‘Hostname or IP address’ field, type ‘10.1.10.95’ (without quotes) and click next. A contacting printer box will appear and search for a few minutes. Eventually it will find our printer, HP2055dn. Give it a nickname if you wish and save it.
Step 3: Print away!
Make sure you choose our printer, HP2055dn, from your print dialogue box when you would like to print at the Wilson Branch. It will only work if you are connected to our wireless network. Next time you come in, you will not have to install this printer. It should be ready and waiting for you. Come up to the circulation desk and ask for your prints and the clerk will charge you accordingly. This printer can only print in black and white. It is the same price as printing through the copier ($.20 per page).
